Well we came 4th but it was a great day which everyone enjoyed.
This is the start
And some photos
Our term 1 program included a wide game with the Cubs on Tuesday 2 April. However, due to the Easter camp and too much on, we have decided to withdraw from this. We will organise a joint activity with Cubs next Term.
Our next meeting is Friday 5 April – Peter and Raphie are organising a night hike for the Troop.
We have been invited to join Killara Troop for their annual Easter Camp, which is their main training and fun camp for the year. This is a great opportunity to join the legendary “Bear” (Paul Tame) and his able team of leaders – to learn and have fun in a great location.
This camp is open to all registered Cubs & Scouts as well as their parents & siblings.
I will be attending with Sophie and Conor – taking the trailer with tents, kayaks, etc.
I must advise Killara Troop as soon as possible how many are going from 1st Gordon – so please let me know by 20th March if you can come. It’s going to be a blast!
PS The forms needed are can be found in the Forms section of this site.
Will this be third time lucky? The forecast for Friday evening is dry – so let’s go and do the twilight bike ride before the evenings draw in further. Attached A1 form for you to complete and hand to me on Friday night please.
I’ll see you all at the end of Stonecrop Rd Turramurra – don’t forget to let me know if you need help with bikes/transport.
The more experienced Leaders group was beaten by the Scouts group in a closely fought competition on Friday night.
The Leaders won with their main course of Butter Chicken, which was perfectly cooked (though some might say it didn’t follow the classic receipt by being over spices).
While the Leaders desert of chocolate truffles was first class, it was beaten by the sheer quality and presentation of the Scouts piklets with syrup and fruit.
No luck with the weather ! The twilight bike ride is cancelled.
So, we will be in the hall at the normal time of 7.30-9.30pm – doing ‘International Masterchef’. So, bring your fine cooking skills – everything else will be supplied.
If we finish cooking early we’ll have a trivia quiz.
See you all tomorrow.
Unfortunately the weather is looking awful for Friday evening – and we will probably have to cancel the twilight bike ride. However, we can defer it to next week – and bring forward the raft building practice in the hall.
That was a good call as it was raining and windy by 8pm!
The Cub camp has been cancelled this weekend due to rain and high winds.
Sunday 16th December from 7:30am till they’re all gone!

First Gordon Scout Group sadly notes the passing of Mark Raftery, enthusiastic Scout Dad of Annabel and former committee member. Mark died peacefully on Sunday January 22nd after a prolonged illness. All of our thoughts are with Annabel and her family.
